Love from Nantucket

“As soon as I saw you I knew an adventure was going to happen” – Winnie the Pooh

Nantucket will always hold a special place in my heart…
After a 6 day crossing from Bermuda, going from hot to extremely cold weather and reduced visibility due to fog, we were extremely happy to arrive in Nantucket in time for the 4th of “Joyly” celebrations!

Nantucket proved to be the quintessential atmosphere to celebrate Independence Day. Adorable storefronts and shingle-style homes draped in patriotic flags, a festival and parade to include pie eating contests, and of course a grand firework display. But the true fireworks took place on the 5th…

After an afternoon of window shopping and photographing Nantucket’s charm, we stopped at the supermarket to buy food for a sunset picnic. We do this on occasion, so I thought it was just another picnic at the beach. We took the dinghy (Swipe Right) to a quiet lagoon area and then walked across to the shore side where we had a great view of the sunset all to ourselves. (Minus the lovely no see ums who tagged along.) We were almost done eating and sipping on Chardonnay, when Dunbar suddenly said I have a question to ask you. It took a second to register that he was holding out a ring!!! He asked me to marry him and read some sweet words on love and his promise to me. Of course I said Yes and held back my tears of Joy as we took selfies, made a video to share with our family, and watched a gorgeous sunset.

I don’t have enough words to describe the love and respect I have for my future hubby! He brings a whole new level of happiness into my life, and pushes me to try new things with the confidence that I can achieve anything with him by my side. I have waited almost 40 years to find this unconditional love and I vow to honor, reciprocate, and always be thankful for his love! I can’t wait to become Mrs. Lewis and share in life’s biggest adventures together!! ❤️ My forever Captain❤️
